Swedish Massage/Deep Tissue/Therapeutic Massage

Swedish massage is the most traditional form of Western massage. Also known as a classic massage in some countries, is a relatively gentle massage form focused on the body’s superficial layers. There are several different strokes utilized during the session and are slow flowing in nature and consist of light to moderate pressure. Swedish massage is good for circulation along with making one feel relaxed.

Deep tissue massage is a massage technique that’s mainly used to treat musculoskeletal issues, such as strains and sports injuries. It involves applying sustained pressure using slow, deep strokes to target the inner layers of your muscles and connective tissues. This helps to break up scar tissue that forms following an injury and reduce tension in muscle and tissue. Deep tissue massage helps to treat muscle pain and improve stiffness.

Therapeutic massage is a form that incorporates techniques from both Swedish and deep tissue massage and usually is tailored to the needs of the client.

What to expect when receiving a massage

On day of session, please arrive about 10-15 minutes early to fill out a client intake form if one has not been done prior to arriving.

Typical session usually starts off with client face up for the first half of the session followed by face down for the last half.

Clients will be covered with a sheet and blanket except for the part I am working on. The male/female private area will never be uncovered.

Clothing requirements will depend on if the client is receiving just an upper body or the full body massage. For upper body, top and bra will need to be removed. If a client feels more comfortable leaving her bra on, I must be able to pull straps down off the shoulder  when treating the shoulders and neck along with unhooking the bra when massaging the back. No sports bras and bralettes allowed as they prevent me from massaging the back properly. For full body sessions, pants will need to be removed with underwear being optional depending on clients preference
